I'm amazed by all this OSB interest, I thought it was just me!
Well Cranky, not very. It's lots of 'strands' (effectively shavings) of wood that have been put in a massive industrial press with some glue and put under a lot of pressure. It's not totally smooth, more textured, maybe half a milimeter variation across the surface, 1mm in extremis?
The place I talked to about their table definitely said they sanded it very finely then varnished it, I would have thought if you'd got it that fine/flat then just varnishing would be fine.
Maybe I should try it out on a piece to see what it looks like? I think this could be the only way to clear this up!
