So picking up from the other thread,
TinyExplosions has done us all a big fat favour in setting up dublinfgss.com. The board, and more importantly, the correct domain is set up now, so you can point your browser at dublinfgss.com, and it'll bring you to the forum, instead of an under construction/coming soon page.
So this forum is gonna be closed off to new postings.
The old threads will still be archived here, but there wont be any fresh postings made. Why? Because it'll be healthier for the dublin fg/ss "scene" (even in a foetal/infancy state) to have its own domain, so people will be conscious of the URL. Its also good for putting on stickers, t-shirts, spraypainting or markering on walls (not that I would ever condone that sort of activity), and also just for telling other people in the street. I met a guy on Tuesday or Wednesday of this week who locks his bike outside a smokers shop on North Frederick Street, who is going to setup an online fixed parts distribution site for Ireland (www.projectfixation.com, I think) and was trying to tell him about our nice little forum, which was a bit complicated. Saying 'dublinfgss.com' rolls off the tongue a bit easier than the above URL.
I was asked to explain this to you before it all happens.
I'm assuming its all cool (yes, I know about assumptions...)
I think its really important to get it running. I've only been riding fixed for about three years but in that time its really taken off in Dublin, its a pretty positive development (fashion driven or not, I dont give a fuck, as long as more people are cycling its all good!) and if we have our own space, with a simple, recognisable URL, then it can only help in getting Dublin-specific events and happenings off the ground.
Maybe we can even get some sponsorship/advertisings off some shops around town for funding film screenings (=free beer!)
The link from LondonFGSS main page is gonna point at dublinfgss.com from now on, so all visitors will be sent there.
We can also link in the new Facebook Group with the dublinfgss.com site.
Don't worry about formatting, just type in the text and we'll take care of making sense of it. We will auto-convert links, and if you put asterisks around words we will make them bold.
Tips:
Create headers by underlining text with ==== or ----
To *italicise* text put one asterisk each side of the word
To **bold** text put two asterisks each side of the word
Embed images by entering: ![](https://www.google.co.uk/images/srpr/logo4w.png) That's the hard one: exclamation, square brackets and then the URL to the image in brackets.
* Create lists by starting lines with asterisks
1. Create numbered lists by starting lines with a number and a dot
> Quote text by starting lines with >
Mention another user by @username
For syntax highlighting, surround the code block with three backticks:
```
Your code goes here
```
Just like Github, a blank line must precede a code block.
If you upload more than 5 files we will display all attachments as thumbnails.
OK,
