  • I tried it. It indeed takes ages to get some understanding of the whole thing. It's not a game really. If I didn't have a life to waste I would definitely be playing it, but it just consumes too much time imo.

However some people say otherwise, it may take a long time before it gets interesting. Quote from a friend fom my Diablo II HC community:

I mean - the PVE side, I find it boring. Still - need to get isk to buy ships to start PVP, I fount out that the easiest way, with minimum time is: first some afk mining with a Retriever,(people despise that, but I'm, not interested in serious mining, manufacturing, planetary interaction - that's something like some economy game) and after that, when you have something like 50 million - station trading, buy low, sell high, takes 10 minutes a day, the more money you have the more you make. You can also pay for subscription with the in-game currency. Apart from that - there are the skills needed, but they train themselves.

Some interesting links, I like how free EVE is regarding player interaction:

To which I replied: You are on the edge of making me fail my education by joining you.

    To which he replied again

    ;D
It's not so fun - yet. I play very casual, I trained some ship skills, - that took 3 weeks, now I'm training other skills to be able to fight. 2 more weeks of doing nothing I think. The skills train themselves in real time, even when logged off. Really, there is nothing do do, right now I'm training a skill that takes 4 days, I login, see I have 3 days left, logout.

Yes, I am sure that entering a player corp that owns player structures and space - will make the game a lot more fun, but a lot more time demanding, I myself don't have so much time, and don't want that. I heard about players of big corps that have to answer any call - and login in case they are needed to fight.
Want to be able to login, fight a little, logout, just as I did in D2. Not doing boring missions, (something like Baal runs :) ), and not getting involved in fleets, where I can't just exit when I want (something like the raids in Wow)

Still, sorry if that's the case, delete this thread, forget about eve - not so interesting for at least a 1-2 month :)
