• FN52 EEY reported on roadsafe:

I was cycling southbound on Grove Road approaching the roundabout with Old Ford Road. Immediately prior to this roundabout there is a pedestrian crossing and speed hump. As I approached the pedestrian crossing I looked behind me, and saw the car in question following at a sensible distance and speed. I then indicated right, as to take a central position on the road to carry on straight through the roundabout. Immediately after I changed my road position, the car behind accelerated heavily (with about 20-30 yards to go to the roundabout) fully into the other side of the road, swerved back in to the left and then had to slam on his brakes in order to avoid rear-ending the car that was waiting to proceed at the junction.

While I was in no immediate danger myself, I am reporting this as that roundabout is dangerous at the best of time. There is a large garden on top so there is no visibility through it. Traffic coming northbound through the roundabout enters it from a hill and so often comes through at speed. Being next a park there are often also pedestrians crossing there too.

This was an extremely unnecessary and dangerous overtake across a pedestrian crossing for what amounted to being one vehicle ahead at the intersection.
