1mm isn't much, I don't think you should bother too much about the chainline, but I don't know how to explain your issue with chains. It has been stated that Stronglight chainrings aren't perfectly round but not that it would be a reason for broken chain, maybe you are that strong that you should join national team?

hi i have been using a stronglight crankset http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/CSSTTR2K/stronglight-track-2000-crankset with the recommended 107 mm bb since i have changed it over from the original crankset i have broken 2 chains and get lots of chain slippage even when the chain is quite tight could it be the chainline is wrong ? or am i just unlucky as i think i am i have a normal 120mm rear wheel spacing any help would be most appreciated
Never had a problem with my stronglight chainset, are you sure that the chain, chainring and sprocket are all in good condition? Also is your rear hub tightened enough?
