  • anyone here converted their pomps to 130 and 1x10?
seen this on another forum, pretty cool.

  • ^ what's the item on the chain at the top of the chainring?

Wouldn't spreading the dropouts 10 mm weaken the wishbone on the seatstays? Some with the bit joining the chainstays that you attach a mudguard to. No idea what that's called though.

  • I'd have used a pompetamine and a 135mm hub...

  • Sounds a better idea, I suppose it depends on what you have available.

Any idea what that is on the chain?

  • ^ thanks. Is it necessary? Surely the rear mech takes up any chain slack and prevents chain loss.

I've often wondered whether 2×10 provides that much advantage over 1×10. I suppose it just prevents you spinning as you change to a lower gear due to the closer ratios.

It does, until you hit a bump. There are rear dérailleurs now with a clutch in the P-Pivot which prevents the flapping chain usually associated with bumps, but 105 isn't one of them.

  • Ah fair point. Thanks.

  • Well, after much pondering this weekend, I decided I wanted another pompino (my last one cracked at the chain stay). Last week On-One seemed to have plenty in stock. Last night? None except a few Large.

Could this mean the new Pomp is finally here?

  • How did you crack it?

  • Manlyness.

No, just normal riding to be honest though I'm not the lightest person.

  • email On-One and get a replacement, their frame aren't the strongest.

  • They were going to replace it under the 2 year warranty, but circumstances meant I couldn't send it back, so I missed my opportunity.

  • Do all their frames have a two year warranty? If so that's a useful bit of information to file away.

  • Whens the new pomp out?

  • We don't know. Probably soon.

Wow 50 % off for crash replacements.

  • That pomp with gears is giving me ideas what to do with my pompetamine in summer...I was thinking about alfine hub but with that i'd save $$$ hmmhmmhmm. Are those hangers actually any good or should i forget whole idea?

  • I had a similar concern over the hanger. My son's bike has a similar hanger but it is also bolted to a threaded hole on the dropout.

  • Is a Mary bar a good alternative to a cowbell II drop bar? If figure if i cut it down some i can get my hands near where they are with the drop bar. Any good setup pics

  • They're both different bar.

Cowbell is closer to a road bar than dirt bar.

Cowbell is closer to a road bar than dirt bar.

  • So would i be giving up what performance i have using a drop bar? I still wanna be able to ride longer distances and climb. Im just worried the mary will transform the bike into a townie POS bike.
