  • you still on the original bb?

  • no, CK. never used the original one, still got it foiled up.

  • hm

  • I really dont think it will cause you any problems if you install the bb the way it should be.
especially not if its for occasional ride.

  • Will be ridden every week, twice a week. Pretty hard.

One of the reasons I'm changing is that I'm fed up of the wobbly Miche cranks. Maybe I'll just wait a little longer and get some omniums..

  • You could do, but a Shimano BB is perfectly adequate. My on-one BB faield in short order, but it was a powder coated frame I neglected to get face, which will have been a factor.

For racing Omniums will be a better choice, but for budget and general riding on-ones are fine.

  • anyone know off hand what thread size the preload bolt for these is? mine's gone awol, along with my verniers apparently.
    thanks

  • people are using the EXO-something something bolt with them for 2.99 from Evans I think

apologies not very helpful but will try to search, somebody had this problem recently

  • Thanks to both. much appreciated.
FWIW, the question was asked in AQA, linked below with responses.

  • Sorry to ask again but should I be using the spacers the stock BB came with? Might fix my side to side wobble problem, Just worried it will mess up the chain line (42mm track frame)

  • Anyone fancy selling me a set?

  • just installed this on my new ride, feels pretty solid, but the "on-one" logo is a tad too glaring, any solutions to get it off? seems like print of sorts. not sure what you call it. will try to add in a pic when i get home.

  • Anyone else had a issue with the axle twisting?
My cranks no longer line up straight somehow the axle seems to have twisted in the spider.
Any ideas on how to sort it

  • Fwiw, the FSA pre-load bolts are the right thread size, but there's too much thread (i.e. the bolt's too long). You could maybe cut it down, but it would be close because of how the allen key socket is positioned.

Anyway, they're useful enough to tighten everything up if you put a couple of spacers in. You can then remove it.

  • ^ Really? I didn't have that issue

  • Yeah, the one I've got anyway. I just ordered it off the internet without really thinking.

  • Hmm thats odd - you'd think there wouldn't be much variation for something like that. I've got this, but in silver and it sits nice and flush:

  • based on a really quick Google, it seems most cranksets for track are square taper? I thought they were supposed to be flexy so for track I thought external would be the norm due to the sprinting etc.
