Out
I installed atomic 22 wheel nuts last night, they could not hold the wheel in place for 50 yards as I did not adequately torque them up. Never try riding with untested kit.

On train at Brighton and now going home. Fixie skidders never caught up with me. It was cool but no cold. Headwind up ditching was bitching, knees ached a lot, saw others walking it so was pleased to be able to mash it up there on one gear.
Shame to have been beaten by lynx by a whole week!

Well done DJ. We'll be a while yet, it's been puncturegeddon
-

Bad luck. Best to ride out of the gutter to avoid the debris. I missed having banter, but after the atomic 22 installation fuckup by me the rest of the ride was fine. Had to return home to replace the atomic 22 rear wheel nuts with the original royce nuts.
I now know that the atomic 22 stuff needs to be torqued correctly.

We're in the Evening Star. About 15 of us so far.

• #339
How many punctures did you have?
You lot were a little slow.

• #340
Turned up at the evening star pub and hardly anyone was there
-
• #341
I would say we had no less than 10 punctures.
-
• #342
Each?

• #343

I blame Croydon -

despite the punctures, that was a fun ride. Marshalling that number of people through South London and through the lanes was top work, cheers YAL. Thanks to all the way-markers!
Sorry to Tony and Des for the disappearing act in Brighton but the fast train to just outside my house was leaving and I fancied jumping on board...
Hope the tandem crew made it in one piece and got back on the train without any hassle...

Yep,top day...loads of banter during the many puncture enforced stops, top marshalling and making sure nobody got left anywhere.and the wind coming off Ditchling...wow.....Nic I got the quick train as well and I felt guilty .....:)

Was there before you guys, travelling geared with a few buddies. Some of those roads were appalling - no wonder so many punctures.. We didn't have one between us (4).
And yeah - bloody windy on top of the beacon!!!
Saw one LFGSS member at the summit - who had ridden on ahead of the group. Didn't catch your name, but nice to meet you! (I was in my Wiggle Jersey).

Haha that was Ho on the canyon with the wind traps, I was worried for him! In fact generally amazed no accidents from anyone in that wind, it was a stressful section!
Yeah seriously good work Hovik and Maria, riding up Ditchling. That rest/fuel at the bottom must have worked magic.
Thanks again Dan for arranging and leading us like a Rapha-clad Moses.
Well done to anyone who was on their longest ride ever or longest fixed ride. I think there was a few.
Simon x
