Cheers Regal, Red collection's not really intentional, I just seem to be a red bike magnet at the moment! Starting to like it tho!
Quick update on where I'm up to:
Marin & Kona done & dusted - (Marin sold cos I didn't really like it). Commencal waiting for brakes, tyres, saddle & rear wheel
Bob-rat frame ready for clearcoat - waiting for a free dry day. I've assembled bars/stem/brakes & saddle/seatpost and have a BB & headset ready so It's just wheels & chainring...
Re: Chainring - the plan fis to borrow clockwork killa's Mistral strada chainring as a template and then machine mistral geometry into a Gebhardt 1/8" ring - I'll do CNC program on CAD and get a mate to machine it, then CK & I will have a "mistral pista" (whether such things actually exist or not!!)
Finally Gitane. Turns it's a 1984 10speed with a pretty good brazing job on track ends (see catalogue page below). This was part of dry's rationalisation efforts!a lugless high-tensile (like Peugeot). The reason I've acquired it is that I've been using Duratec & Ortlieb bag to schlep tools/materials to & from my building site, so it's spending long periods out in the rain/cement/brick dust - not ideal really!
A porteur-beater would be useful, and a front rack would be useful for shopping and skateboard portage.
