  • Thanks for all the bag tips everyone, I will start trying out bags this week and report back.

Sorry to hear you had a bad run HatBeard – but like Ed says, if it’s a one off (which it is, your training is going really well) then no point worrying about it. There are good runs and bad runs (believe me, I’ve had TONS of bad ones!) and I guess as long as the good outweigh the bad then it’s okay.

I managed to fit the good and the bad into one run yesterday:
    - GOOD: I ran with my garmin in my pocket and enjoyed the view instead of checking my pace etc; I enjoyed wearing my new super reflective jacket, which was only slightly too hot at first and slightly too cold at the end; new sports bra was extremely comfy (once I got it fastened up – sprained shoulder + complicated straps = ouch) and worth the vast amount of money it cost; it was a beautiful day for a scenic jaunt along the Thames; despite it being my longest run ever (12.4 miles) and my first long run for ages, it wasn’t particularly painful on the legs; I got zero – repeat, ZERO – blisters!!
    - BAD: after an hour I realised that all I’d eaten was 2 pieces of toast and an apple six hours before, and I really suffered for it; I also realised that all I’d drunk all day was a cup of decaf tea and by the final few miles I was dreadfully thirsty and developing a stonking headache; when I got home I threw myself onto the kitchen floor instead of doing any stretches and am finding stairs a bit of a challenge today as a result.

Three weeks until my half marathon, eek.
