  • I'm buying a foffa sale bike and have been reading through this post and I must say some of the comments on her seem a little harsh. Maybe the bikes are a little expensive for their parts but this is a small company with limited buying power, staff to pay and up until recently the overheads of a shop too. The owner has stated that until recently he has not taken a wage and now takes only a meagre one. I am inclined to believe him. The bikes are very attractive and there aren't that many on the road compared to the generic plugs etc. These are factors that some people are happy to pay a little more for.

I'm not a bike expert, but I think the sale deal I'm getting isn't even that bad. I'm getting their higher end product- drop handlebar, Columbus Cromor double butted tubing with lugs, campagnolo centaur full group set, all in for 850. On the cycle to work scheme that'll cost me about 550 over 12 months- not bad eh?

I was looking around for equivalents and, again I'm no expert but the spec for the plug 3 at 850 squid sounds like a similar spec though maybe the 105 somponents are not as good as the centaur? I'm not sure... Anyway, both bikes seem to be comparable in quality and price?

Anyway, all that said, I have a bit of money in my pocket and am on the look out for another bike too! A back up bike... I'm looking to spend in the 5-600 pound range. Can be new, nearly new or good quality old build-up. It needs to be fast, light, comfortable (not too profiled a riding position) and not too showy. Does anyone have any suggestions for where I might look?

    Many thanks, Toby
