That's all pretty sound and reliable advice.
I'd add that a couple of 400's this year will likely be better for new audaxers than getting the 600 in. This particularly applies if you do some of the ones that start at 10am onwards as you're guaranteed to get the experience of overnight riding. 400k doesn't quite lend itself to having a proper sleep stop so you get the catnapping thing in as well.
Training wise I'd advise on making sure that from now on, the day after you do a 200k, you make sure you get up and ride again in the morning. Good experience for getting the legs going again after a sleep and the legs tightening up. Aiming for an RRtY into 2015 will also do wonders for keeping your fitness up and making the qualifying a less daunting experience.
Just rode 200k today. Very happy. But tomorrow it its raining.

I'm 50:50 about PBP2015 at the moment.
I'm about 01:99 about PBP2015 at the moment. No chance. No long distance mojo at all.
However, I'll happily attend another SW London PBP advice session (Wibbas Down Inn in Wimbledon) if there is one arranged at a suitable time.

Looks like the last chance to BRM in 2014 is tomorrow and entries are closed: http://www.aukweb.net/events/detail/14-548/
... but I think I should try a 400 first.

Still a 200 up in Lancashire and another in Galashiels.
Wouldn't worry about it too much though. Best thing to do now is keep doing 200's through the winter to keep your fitness up and start ramping up through 300k in March.

Doing the Flatlands tomorrow.
Definitely up for PBP. -

16-20th August eh? Le hmm.. would require a bit of a kit adjustment. Need go from being comfy on TT bike to being very comfy on road bike. Bunch skills would need a brush up as would my French.

What do you have to do to get entry?
How much is entry? -
• #88
You will need to complete a series 200k, 300k, 400k and 600k rides between January and July in order to qualify for the event.
The cost will likely be between 150-200 Euros to enter. This doesn't include services along the way.
-
• #89
Oooh... "services". Wait, motorway or "other"? wink wink nudge nudge say no more..
-
• #90
Definitely not motorway.

Thanks. @The_Seldom_Killer
When do you enter pbp? And can anyone get in that's done the stuff, or is there a rider limit?
-
• #92
You can enter from 06 June and it is open on a first come first served basis. The rider limit is 6500 although there is a low likelihood that it will sell out.

Star thanks.
Though realising this is august, and that's when transcontinental is often. Damn.
-
• #94
You do Transcon, I'll do PBP then we can swap ;)

National 24 and National 12 are a week apart (bastards!) in July. They may or may not be good training for PBP.

Is there usually a mad rush to enter? Does anyone have GPS files for it (although the actual route seems quite simple - CTT instructions for 25s have more lines!) ?
Thanks - 2.5 days of busting my balls went into that! All good fun though.
