Wanted: 23mm width rim and shimano 10 speed hubs

Posted on
  • Looking for some wheels to go on my caadx, will be using them with 28c tyres and a shimano 105 - 10 speed cassette and would like a slightly wider rim.
I'm going to be using them for light touring so I'm after something tough and reliable rather than something uber light weight.

Would quite like a23s or archetypes but open to suggestions

  • looking for complete wheels rather than build my own

  • I've a pair of near mint/excellent condition Specialized 'globe'/Deore wheels. 32x DT double butted spokes per wheel, Deore hubs which spin nice & smooth, the rear is a 130mm dropout. take up to a 42mm tyre, currently shod with nerly new 28mm continental contacts which you can buy if required.
They done a few hundred miles and really are immaculate with not much wear on the braking surface, the rear is virtually as new.
Came fitted as std on my Specialized globe pro but I use ceramic rims on it all year round. I'm over 100kg and these will take that & more plus a load with ease
£90 collected £100 via courier, an extra £20 for the tyres and tubes

  • Do you know how much they weigh?

  • I've a set of these...

I'm going to sell however, I've just had the rear rebuilt with DT Swiss spokes only to find out from the builder the rear was slightly buckled. Whilst it won't bother most people it bothers me as they run slightly out of true. I'm only after what I spent on the rebuild £40 plus p&p.

  • unfortunately I'm using rim brakes, thanks though

  • Do you know how much they weigh?

no idea and I'm not back until 29th. Given the width of the rims and the fact they are double walled & deore hubs I wouldn't expect too much change from 2000g including skewers and rim tapes. As a comparison my Dura Ace 7700s/Open pros are 1800g incl skewers.
If 200g is a big deal for you then I would suggest that you're better off going with a std open pro type rim (circa 430-450g) plus a lightweight race hub and run with 28mm tyres in any case

Do you still have these? Where are you for collection?

  • Are you still looking? I've got a 24h rear Shim R500 rim and a Miche Xpress rim - 2012 I think. Selling both - though both have had quite a bit of use
