Sorry mate I didn't see the sign.
Sorry mate I didn't see the cyclist.
?
My response to the former is the same as the latter: try fucking paying attention.

Are you joking? I bet you've ridden past a shittonne of signs you couldn't recite the details from.
-
• #29
maybe i'm mega stupid but a red line through the bike in the sign would probs make it clearer.
-
• #30
To be fair, I'm aware of it because I took the theory test when learning to drive.
Still, no excuse for ignorant.

The Holborn viaduct has been discussed a million times; anyway ..
IF I am stupid enough to ride through there my stupid excuse would be 'in my country (india) anything in red circle means only allowed for that' which is true and I am technically an immigrant :P

It's a basic tenet of using roads in the UK that a red circle with something inside it means that thing is not allowed.
I maintain that if anyone doesn't know that they should stay off the road until they have learnt the basics of UK road signage because frankly they could be a danger to others.

That route has been closed to cyclists for years, people need to know what signs mean!
I've always considered these signs a little ambiguous:
This would be a tad clearer:

When teaching bikeability kids in years 5 and 6 understand that red signs are prohibitions and that blue signs are positive instructions.

I'd be pretty pissed off if a driver did not understand this

And yet, intuitively, it is still ambiguous.

Yep, but in Britain in 1997 a small boy mistook one of the signs for the Ghostbusters and had a nervous breakdown when realising it wasn't the case at all. They've been this inferior version ever since.

Yep.

So just to check, it's bus lane with a pretty daft restriction on it that most people either don't know about or choose to ignore - except those that want to act like smartarses on the internet?

I don't know the highway code. I have a driving license. Top shelf law-making over here...
-
• #44
Fuck me. If you think people who know the highway code are smartarses you're on an evolutionary level with Jeremy Clarkson.
-
• #45
I bet you all think this means 'WARNING EXPLODING CARS'
-
• #46
And this means 'STUNT DRIVERS AHEAD'.
-
• #47
-
• #48
No wonder I have such a stressful commute, I've just found out you guys drive on the LEFT!
-
• #49
I mean, why bother learning the rules of the road?
Who can be arsed with that?
Fuck me.

And this means 'STUNT DRIVERS AHEAD'.
must spread rep...
