• Anybody for a nice beater frame or project for 2014?

I'm making room in the new year and selling my old 1973 Raleigh Super Course TT frame and forks. Throwing in some beater wheels, seatpost, original seatpost bolt, a Shimano BB with 300-400 miles on it, and the original headset bits. Cable carrier and shifter braze-ons have been ground off so not a candidate for a complete restore job. Paint was a horrible black spray job when I came across the frame. Striped back to bare steel over a couple years ago and then painted with automotive spray enamel (some Volvo metallic moss green) and then a automative clear coat. This hasn't held up great being ridden as a beater, so quite a few paint chips and surface rust now showing. Would probably look great to get it striped and properly painted or powdercoated.

    Price: £70

    Details:
    TT CTC: 56cm
    ST CTC: 56cm
Both wheels are 700c from an old Italian tourer I picked up in Marrakech. Both are nicked up and a bit out of true at the moment but roll fine. Rear has a 6-speed cassette in good condition.
Includes seatpost and bottom bracket in the photos.
Little piece of old cable inside the frame somewhere, occasionally rattles and tings every so often when going over bumps or down cobbled streets. Never bothered to try and get it out.

What it looked like when I built it up a few years back (NOT the current condition mind, please see the photos above [hopefully obvious enough]):

  • Forgot to mention location... Bike is in Dalston, near Dalston Junction Overground.

  • I've only just joined so can't pm, but I'll take the frameset, although I have no use for the wheels. How is best to proceed?

    Cheers

Sent you a personal message Bertieg.

  • hang on, am i missing something or have you listed a frame/forks for sale with 2 pics of just parts of it along with a catalogue pic of how it should have looked? and had an offer?

Yup, I think you are missing something.

I'm listing the frame/forks for sale (and some old wheels thrown in there that I had laying around as a bonus... as well a seatpost and BB). Hopefully you are seeing the first few images which should make this pretty clear.

The two images at the end are just for reference. The first was how I built up the bike a couple years back (and an example of how it can look when the paint is in good condition). The catalogue photo and link is for whoever is interested so they can dig up more about the frame specs, history, etc. if they are so inclined.

I get the feeling you are incredulous about something, but now I'm the one who feels like I'm missing something. Hopefully I cleared that up for ya.

Edited the caption in the original post as well, hopefully that helps ya.

  • Haven't heard from Bertieg so open to others if wanted.

PRICE DROP to £65 and I'll throw in some old bars I got lying around too.

  • This is now gone.
