I had that, it's great, it got a removable light mount on the underside mean it doesn't get obstructed like the bar mount/top mounted one.
-
• #2180
Do you have all the mountings etc?

Trolling Rodolfo by posting pics of touring on FB, but it probably hurts me more than it does him. Oh god I want to go touring so bad right now!

Missed that bit. Soma did a fork with front and mid-blade eyelets but it might have had canti bosses.

These are the soma ones? http://www.somafab.com/archives/product/classic-curve-cyclo-cross-fork, thanks ed, those seem pretty perfect, I just need to check what weight they can take. I read somewhere something about only taking 5kg as they are intended as light touring forks?
-
• #2190
Ah yeah, thought so... 2.5kg each side... http://www.thorncycles.co.uk/AudaxMK3/Thorn_Audax_Mk3.pdf

• #2191
5kg is plentiful.

• #2192
Wouldnt want more that that upfront tbh.

How long is your stem? I used to have a carradice zipped roll up front, occasional knee tough when out the saddle and leaning forward.
Looks like a good bet, cheers. Any other (cheaper) options to consider?

Over here in NZ drivers don't really move over for cyclists, we are the bane of everyone's life. Saying that though, John Key has put a lot of money into cycle ways that will eventually link all together over the two islands.
Make sure you do the West coast of the South Island, not to be missed.
-

I am in Queenstown right now, got to say that despite the rain and sandflies the west coast was awesome.
I find that the drivers here are willing to give you as much space as possible, so long as it doesn't slow them down. If there is traffic on both sides of the road, then the drivers will not even brake as they pass you. If the other side of the road is empty, you'll have the whole lane to yourself.
Scared the shit out of me when an oil tanker gave me about 30cm at 100km/h, so I learned my lesson and I get out of the way if I hear something big.

My girlfriend's touring wheels need replacing... Mavic A719 seem to be the default rim of choice for 700c touring wheels. Or the A119, which is much cheaper and available in silver, unlike the A719 atm.
Is there any particular reason I shouldn't go for the A119s? -
• #2200
A719 is double eyelit, A119 is single.
Get Rigida Sputnik instead.
