1t difference is quite big with a rear cog than a front chainring, put 47/18 on to see how you get on with it, or change the chainring for a 44t one (unless your rear cog have seen some action, replace both).
I'm currently on 45/18 which is a tiny bit bigger than 47/19 (66 vs. 65.3 w/ 25mm), perfect for London but did spun out with a tailwind in the Surrey commute.

48x16 in London never had any problems..never tried any other gear ratio tho.. Waiting for the new 44t chainring to be delivered so will try 44x16.. Anyone rides 44x16.. Discuss!

Can't really comment on "favourite" as I've mostly ridden 46/16. I find this fine for my commute which is mostly flat and I can also get around Richmond Park.
I started on the track at HHV a couple of years ago and was using the same ratio. Left me utterly knackered each session so at the end of last summer I changed to a bigger ratio - 48/15. This will be an interim step as I didn't want to jump too much in one go but it immediately felt much better.

49/19 on my daily. Not too spinny going downhill & not too harsh going back up

I did the same and couldn't figure why I was blown out so quickly - 48/14 works for me on the track

My winter commuter is 44x16 with 700x28s. It's about 72GI I think so is fine in all but the worst headwinds and will spin 25mph if you must.
I have another bike that's 48x16, 700x23s and it's noticeably less nippy round town.
I very much like 71/72 GI.

48/17, for the many skid patchs (I think lots?) and its what was in my box.

I'm going to try 47/18 soonish.
Roughly 69 GI (if I worked it out right)
36 patches.Good times.

I've just changed from 48/17 to 49/18, mainly due to chain length and tyre clearance issues. Really enjoying it.

Just added a 19 onto the other side of my hub, perfect ratio for winter city riding. I think my knees will thank me on longer rides when the temp really drops

Trying out 44/16.. Some how I dont feel its good for me as i get tired of spinning it..My legs asks for heavier gear..even if I ride breakless..Did around 30+ miles around london..Thinking to get back on 48/16.

Enjoy having one skid patch :)
I'd just stick at spinning until it feels good, I'm sure it will sooner or later. Did for me.

And isn't all that breakless riding very tiring?

Guess I get 2 skid patches with both legs.. but this skid patch thing is confusing as someone told me that it does not matter as we don't skid in the same place every time.. Riding breakless gives me discipline..I dont ride like peps from macaframa or corn. To be honest i dont get tired riding breakless alot of people complain about knee pain and stuff.. No probs at all for me.. Maybe because I just haven't gone on a long ride yet.

That person is wrong, you do get twice as many patches if you skid using either foot forwards with some ratios but not all. 44/16 (72.5GI) has 4 patches or 8 if you skid with either foot forward, 48/16 (79GI) has 1 patch and 1 patch only, take your wheel out and rotate it every few days in relation to your chainring or get a 17 for the back and have 17 patches and 74.5GI on your 48 front.
47/18 will be fine.
