Because I need to replace the Renthal ring anyway and I need cranks for my speedway bike.
The Middleburn set up (used, chainring very lightly) cost me less than those things combined and I've always wanted a set. If they are that much worse then the speedway bike can get them and the Deore HT2s will go back on the Surly.
