Hey, I'm very up for this but have a couple of Qs if anyone can answer:
What's traffic likely to be like? Know the night time rides to b are practically deserted, but is there risk of traffic conflict during a Saturday day?
Will there be much issue getting 30+ bikes on the train home?
There are some busier sections that might be a hassle. Butmostly just lanes.
About 4 trains an hour means getting back is no hassle.

- Outside London. that route will not be busy but there will be occasional opportunities for brakless downhill back-of-bus face plant.
- Not really. Worst case, stagger the trains back (which may happen anyway if some people spend longer in the bar than others).

agreed. traffic will be fine almost all the way. even the busier bits, just switch on.
tend to find with forum rides that some people have things to rush back to, some people want to eat and some just to drink at the end so the train groups work themselves out.
also a factor that will ease both issues raised is there's no way everyone on the list will show up

Question: will we have a chance to fill up water bottles en route? I'll only have one cage
-
• #113
There's a stop at turners hill where a fill will be possible, this is around 2/3 of the way.
-
• #114
^^ you do realise this is first world right?

• #115
How many brompton riders are there?
-
• #116
Just me at the moment, I think.
-
• #117
I'm feeling pretty sluggish so if anyone is a bit worried about pace happy to do a pub stop for a quick re-charge (pint) and be a slower group
-
• #118
Oooh looks ace but only have a proper bike

Would a tandem be a valid exception to the fgss rule? If so, will ask the missus if she wants.
-
• #121
That would be epic! I know what I'll be slip-streaming to Brighton...
-
• #122
awesome idea! but they are officially banned on the train...
-
• #123
How about as parts instead of a bike? I'm sure they will allow that.
-
• #124
Banned on the train!? Well that's a bit shit.
-
• #125
If i take the wheels off is it considered a bike?
Oh, the kinky little actuary...
