Casual cycle routes (near Kings X)?

Posted on
  • I've just moved to London, near Kings Cross, anyone recommend any good routes (5-25 miles?) for a casual cycle?

Or a good place to find them?

    Cheers

  • Most of the rides I know round there require you to be well dressed.

    Sorry.

Regents Canal, heading east, then up towards the River Lea is nice.

  • I'd recomend getting on the canal and heading East, although on weekends this can be slow going around up to around Broadway Market. Once you're past Victoria Park you are in one of the most open areas in London.

  • canal east or west is nice

  • Treat yo'self to a copy of Lost Lanes. Tonnes of good routes starting with a short train journey from Kings Cross/St Pancras - before you know it you're in the countryside and it's glorious. We recently did the Herts farm ride which starts with a FCC train from Kings X and I'd totally recommend it.

  • You also join the Lycra brigade at the weekends doing the rides around the boundary of Regents Park :D

  • They take some finding but you can get down to blackfriars almost enitrely on back roadds then round to St Pauls and north through aldgate. The problem with cycling through the city is you're never sure if you are onto a great through or heading into a deadend/lethal junction. Good for an explore though.
