  • Keeps your head warmer than regular road helmet, fewer vents to get filled up with shite?

  • fair point

  • If you need to keep your head warmer when racing cross, then you're not going hard enough.

  • giro air attack being worn at the cx nats, odd choice

    How so?

  • Anyone going to welyn on Sunday for central league?

  • Not I. I'm out of the country from Saturday evening for work.

I hope to ride the final London League round at Wilmington still but that'll conclude my 2013/14 season (all 7 races).

  • Given the demands of family and job I'm impressed you've made seven :)

How are you getting to Wilmington?

  • I haven't thought about it too much yet, but last time I got the train to Swanley then rode from there. It's only 3 miles or so I think.

  • Ok. I might be able to make that one. Depends of I want to do another four hr. XC race. I still have nightmares from the last one...

  • wheel recommendations for tubeless?

  • Discs: ZTR iron cross
    Cantis: velocity a23

Although of the later I've no experience beyond some peeps on tinternet saying they be good.

  • thanks

  • Howard, what are these 4 hour races you do? Are they short laps, long courses, point to point?

  • Gorick enduro XC mtb races.

Laps are about 10 miles long.

Although there's little racing on my part.

  • MTB only, or are you allowed to use CX bikes?

  • You could if you wanted to. I'd fit some bigger rubber if possible though :)

  • Spotted Planet X skinsuit at last Bethlem race, thought, "Is that CrossJunkie? Nah, can't be".

    It was though.

  • Are there any starter sessions for those wishing to have their first go at cross being run over the next few weeks?

  • It's nearly the end of the season so there's not much on. The last Central League round is this Sunday, and the final London League round is on the 2nd of Feb.

Is this for you, Neil? Because you're good enough to do a local league round.

  • Thanks Andy- I think what you mean is "You're good enough as long as there are no corners".

It's for me and the Mrs, I think we'll head to Epping and pootle around there.

  • i want to have a go a racing cyclocross, whats the best way. im based in peterborough but can travel wherever

  • As Andy says the season is ending. But in general just turn up at a local league race on a suitable bike, sign on and have a go.

  • On a related note I'm planning on doing this, ahem, Evans Ride-It as a training ride.

You just about break even with the amount of energy foods they give you and the people are nice. Worth doing if there's nothing more exciting in the calendar. Route is flatish and not very technical but enjoyable.

  • is there a collection of posted routes / maps for london based CX here?
i'm in SW and my ride is wimbledon common / RP. looking to diversify...

  • Anyone else race at Welwyn today? Bit of everything: off-camber grass, muddy sections, some singletrack, run-ups. Shame it's not a London Cross League fixture.
