Lands End to John O'Groats Charity Ride

I am about to complete the Lands End to John O'Groats bike ride for the Diabetes UK charity. Any advice, information, equipment loan and/or donations would be greatly received.

I only have a mountain bike to do it on at the moment and am desperately looking for a road bike to use. As you forumites will know a mountain bike is not ideal as the gearing, seating, suspension etc is going to make this a very long ride.

I am either looking to loan or buy a road bike but I am limited on how much I can spend as the money I use for the bike will have to be deducted from what I manage to donate to the charity. Again any help would be hugely appreciated.

If I manage to get a loan then I would ideally need it from as soon as possible until the middle of June.

Please feel free to post advice about the route, where to stay, what to take etc.

I'm looking to cycle end to end this year. So far the Marie Curie organised ride looks great and also a very worthwhile cause. Has anyone done the ride with them?
