We spent a couple of days over the new year investigating tandems to replace our aged and too small Dawes.
Went to The Tandem Shop in Shropshire to try the Co-Motion ones, then JD Tandems in Yorkshire.
The Co-motion steel ones are lovely, but JD do Orbit (made by Bob Jackson) which we can have pretty much custom as they're all made to order. They all ride SO differently to our old one - a complete transformation! They actually feel like riding a normal (if rather long) bike... And we can have S+S couplers to split it down for car/train/flying.
Rob at the Tandem Shop also let us take his full carbon race tandem out for a ride...OMG it's incredible! If only funds and space allowed that and the tourer!
