I found that with a normal BB setup, the cranks (Miche Primato with Campag Veloce 111mm) touched the chainstay on my Pompetamine as well.
I'm getting fed up with carrying mine up the stairs and thinking of selling it, but I know I'd regret it if I did. I like the way yours is going. I was going to suggest gumwalls and then saw you had got Paselas already!
