650 tyres - Where can I buy?

Afternoon all,

My Mrs just got herself a lovley Roberts time trial bike, now her front wheel is a 650c and while it's fine atm I need to find a replacement tubualr tyre for it just in case... let's not say the 'p' word.

So, can anyone recommend me an online store/individual that can supply me with a 650 tub?

My girlfriend has set me the task of finding her some new 650c tyres. She's got some 23mm Gatorskins at the moment, but seems to be having a few issues with the back wheel skidding in wet conditions. I'd like to point out, she is not a fixeh skidder. Rather, an avid commuter on a practical, geared bike.

Anyway, I figured that having a slightly wider tyre would help with the skidding problem. A workmate of mine went from 23mm Gatorskins to 25mm 4 seasons and hasn't had any skidding problems since.

So, to the main point. Is there anywhere that does 650c x 25mm tyres? And if not, is there any particular reason? Links would be appreciated. I will share my brownie points evenly upon completing the mission.

Check the tyre pressure and make sure it's not too high for someone of her weight. More surface area yadda yadda.

As for changing tyre, as has been mentioned look for something with a softer compound and a more aggressive tread. That will be more effective than looking to simply go up one size(which obviously wouldn't hurt either).

If it's a geared setup it's also worth checking that the rear brake is modulating properly, i.e a gradual increase in braking when pulling the lever as opposed to an "off-on" motion.

Thanks all - I did have the Bonti's in mind but, whilst they're 25c, they don't look like they'd be especially grippy? Will do some digging...

I actually ride Michelin Pro Race 3/4s year-round on all my bikes including 650c. Very dependable and stable in the wet, and pretty durable for me (53kg, inflate to 90-100psi). They aren't cheap though, and I check them before every ride for bedded stuff and pick it out. Which is a bit high-maintenance for many riders, hmmv.

Panaracer paselas are really good in the wet. Hippy's links are for non TourGuard though. Go low pressure wise.

Ah yes - sent her a link to the 4000S. I have the 700c x 25c 4000S on my road bike and they seem to stick to the road pretty well.

Her bike is rather small - I believe it's a 49cm frame. With regards to weight, whilst she is fairly light, she often has a pannier full of stuff, plus mudguards etc.

First (and cheapest) port of call then - reduce pressure of rear tyre to 90psi
