i looked at them Jim! glad you're alright after hitting black ice. i was tempted with the idea of going out into the lanes but opted against it incase of ice so did some laps round regents instead. had a good little chain gang going for a bit with a guy riding a giant fixed (which had a small jockey wheel, are you on here?!) who put some good efforts in at the front.
maybe see you out there

Gorgeous cycle along the Thames out East, hadn't realised how much route 1 had changed in recent years. Highly recommended

Oslo delivers some spectacular steel spike Cat 2 climbing just a few km's from center - raining on sea level - stormy snow 30 minutes later

Hmm I know it's supposed to be relatively steady winter miles with some efforts in the mix, but stopping for coffe and cake after 20 miles is just being lazy!
Was feeling like today's ride was going to be a waste of a mornings training but things picked up after that, and although the ride was only 50miles in the end, I felt strong enough to go and do another 15 more on my own, before heading out for a run.
In fairness the guy leading this weeks ride did have a challenge to find roads in Berkshire that didn't have brand new rivers or lakes in them, which he did succeed at!
I guess I need to start just adding solo loops on the end of club rides anyway, so at least this ride gave me the confidence to do it!

Got a little stuck thanks to a road being a lake- I tried to ride through it, but just on from there is an underpass which was unpassable and lost so curtailed my afternoon to 50miles. Was beautiful.

Can anyone think of a way I can do a flooding theme ride tomorrow?
Without having to travel too far from east London. -

I treated myself to a solo century in Kent today, as a celebration of my birthday. Felt good to spend some time alone reflecting on the trials and tribulations of life thus far, and I came back feeling positive about life. Which is nice, and not necessarily a given for me. Kent was really very pleasant today, pretty much dead air and there was basking to be done on the (rare) occasions that a shaft of sunlight broke through the trees.
Happy birthday to me... Etc

Happy birthday Cupcakes. Nice read and fairplay on the solo effort.
Sunny fixed day local for me before xc run race 10k then sauna (of course)
Was a cracking day where Bournemouth felt like Bournemouth again after ages of dramatic climatics -

I rode in surrey today and I must say EVERY driver loves a cyclist in there! OMG it was like sooooo good .. and I failed to find a self operated hand car wash on the way back home :(

It was a lovely day today, the morning commute was great.

Ride yesterday was punctuated by lots of these...
which actually got a bit frustrating in the end. Still, gorgeous day for so early in the year.

I tried to go for a century ride to Maldon and back and got as far as Hog Hill before being advised to turn around by some roadies who'd stacked it on ice. So I did.
So my weekend ride was 40 miles, very slowly, from traffic light to traffic light through various London boroughs. Bit disappointing, but I suppose it's better than nothing.

Yesterday was a winter day you dream of. Sun shining, 10 degrees, dry and no wind. Didn't have enough time to go out to the lanes so made do with 2.5 hours around the regents park velodrome. Just under 50m so happy with that.

I did just under 30 miles of Peak District Trails:
It was cold and solid ground, so less fun than I'd hoped.

Went to try the Westerley Reliability but it was icy on A413 so had a look at the actual course, spotted some serious ice on the first hill (and watched 3 riders stack it) and bailed, riding up the A413 to Stoke Mandeville and Wendover instead then back home for some turbo fun.

Crashed last weekend on ice. Lovely weather today but crashed on wet manhole cover.
Did the Dulwich Paragon ride of the falling leaves route. Good to get some miles in the legs. -

Hippy email wayne and get him to cover you doing a 24.
This article screams amateur hour.
http://cyclingtips.com.au/2014/01/riding-the-festive-500-in-one-go/And it was in hardly one go if they kept stopping for pizza and coffee.

I presume you're not talking about Big Daddy Wayne?
There's is more of a tour anyway so a bit different. -
• #6675
Very different.
Do message him. I reckon the 24h TT is a brutal event, as you'll know, and would love to see some wide publicity on it. To show people what a real hardmans event is. Not riding 300 miles eating pizza every hundred.
Rode out to Chelmsford and back, with a few detours here and there. Stole a lot of my route off Alex Dowsett's strava rides. He rides some very boring roads. But perfect TT training for him I guess. Long, flat, dead straight.
85 miles in the freezing cold in total, quite pleased with myself. Took me about 2 hours for my brain to start working once I got home though. That length of time in the saddle in the cold made my brain hibernate I think.
Obligatory strava links for no-one to look at (both of today)
