  • The Heitinga to West Ham deal is off :-(

It was all done for this week but he's turned round now saying he 'doesn't wanna play in The Championship'

    Fair point I suppose

  • Where's Cliveo when you need him..

Probably still working his way through the naked courier calender...

  • Also Jaw, whats the current take on Willian. Scored a cracker after coming on as a sub, and seemed to be coming into his own..

He was very good against us...

  • Don't think it has to do anything with it being allowed or not, you simply have not got the funds in place to buy him.

FWIW I still think Mata is a fantastic player but he's probably not as well suited to Mourinho's favoured system than other players at his disposal. Providing Chelsea win the title or at at least are challenging for the title until the final weekend than I can understand his decision.
Good to see that the Mikel-Ramires tandem works. Schurrle is one player that has not impressed me so far. He's taylor made for Mourinho's system but has not done much to prove his transfer fee.

    how much was he? 24mil?

I'll eloborate on not allowed... we'd be asked to pay an extortionate fee and therefore FSG wont sanction it, PSG for example would get a much better deal

  • How much did you pay for Mata £20m? Would you be looking to make a profit if you sell? Would be amazed if Chelsea sold him to any other premiership team?
Also Jaw, whats the current take on Willian. Scored a cracker after coming on as a sub, and seemed to be coming into his own..

He cost Chelsea €26.7m to be precise. He's been our best player for the last 2 seasons despite the all the shit that gets thrown at the players. For me he's arguably one the best 5 players in the league and yes, should he wish to move, Chelsea would look to double their money, he'd be a bargain at it. Problem is that there are not that many clubs with such deep pockets.
As for Wilian, he's finally started to play more regularly and is actually performing, still too inconsistent for my liking but Mourinho probably likes him as he's a bit more active without the ball.

Elaborate on extortionate, he's worth at least £50m and LFC will not stump up that sort of money unless they get rid of Suarez. You're probably right that if he would go to PSG than they'd get a better deal than to a PL team.

  • But Jaw aren't Chelsea now in a bind, as the only other teams they could sell to, ones with deep pockets already have players of equal value, and quality as Mata in their sides. So PSG, Real, Monaco, a.n.other Italian team? who would they shove to the margins to fit him in?

Would Man Utd stump up the cash for a proven creative player in the center? Is Mata even worth £50m.

Barcelona might be interested for starters, project Cesc is not working out that well for them and he fits their profile perfectly. Don't rule out the 2 German teams either, plenty of cash there. As for Italy, the cash is simply not there.

It'd be be his market price, personally I don't think anyone in the world is worth that sort of money, unless they cure all known diseases and get world peace of some sort. £50m would be about his market value and a realistic valuation but it'd cost Man Utd more than £50m unless throw Rooney into the mix. I don't want to lose Mata. No idea what Mourinho wants though.

He was good when he arrived at Chelsea, but there's no way he's twice as good now. With lack of first team football and his (understandable) loss of morale, he's not looking like a £50m footballer to me.
I think there's also a problem in Chelsea attaining that sort of figure in that there are a lot of very good attacking midfielders around at the moment. For a club to pay that much for Mata, they'd need to be:

    • moving on a marginally worse player for a lot of money to offset the fee
    • rolling in it already
    • bonkers
  • Jaw, thought Barcelona had more pressing needs defensively, and also in finding a striker to take the weight off messi, until neymar matures into a consistent threat... Or I could be underestimating the desirability of playing without a striker.

Thought maybe he could go to Athletico Madrid? Do Real even need another attacking midfielder? He'd probably be a better fit for Arsenal, can you imagine an attacking front line of Cazorla, Ozil and Mata?

  • I can imagine an attacking front line consisting of Hazard, Oscar and Mata. Jose on the other hand seems to think this is a stupid idea.

As for Barca, yes they do need defensive cover but have done so for a few years now and it hasn't stopped them from winning trophies (league) or at least seriously competing for them (CL). Iniesta has finally extended his contract, Xavi is 33 and not going to be able to carry on like he is forever. Fabregas is playing more this year but still hasn't fully convinced anyone. Mata would be a very useful addition to their team. They're being linked with a lot of players for the summer transfer window and I wouldn't be surprised if they were in for Mata.

Also, it's Atletico, FFS, we've talked about this before. They're still in the shit and I can't see them getting hold of someone like Mata.

  • happy new year ladies.

managed to catch a fair amount of the football over the holiday period but stayed away from here. and more importantly stayed away from the game yesterday, until motd.

we were poor in the first half yesterday with a sleepy defence. but two good claims for penos in the second half and that game could have had a very different result.

mata not a £50m player. torres impressive yesterday.
everton = liverpool at the moment

    let the bedwetting commence

  • everton = liverpool
    #sckbrn

  • Megalozzles!!

For once I agree with you.
Not a cat in hells chance

  • Does anybody think this will end in anything but disaster?

    Happy New Year!

There is plenty of bedwetting to be done. I am slightly more optimistic about our top 4 chances now when you consider we have already been to City, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and Newcastle.
We have that rabble at home where we must win at least 4 of the 5 games. We also go to OT which is a given 3 points nowadays

I think 4th is still a realistic target especially as we have Gerrard back and Sturridge on the way. We will need to buy in January though

He did a great job at Molde (local rivals). But I struggle to see him working with such a controlling chairman.

  • Adebayor looks class again.
Hoolahan got owned by chamach and should now be forced to train with a handbag.

  • I'm sorry but being successful in Norway is like winning the Scottish second division without Rangers in it. Anyone other than an x utd player and this would be laughed out of town

  • Surely this is ideal for him. He gets to have a try at proper management with a squad no-one expects too much from, he'll have a few quid to spend but not so much that he makes a tit of himself in the transfer market. And if it all goes to shit he blames it all on being unable to work under Tan and walks away, who's not going to believe his side of that?

  • who the fuck is harry kane? Apart from a lumbering hair do.

He was on loan with us last season, and was fifth choice striker after, wait for it...David Nugent, Chris Wood, Jamie Vardy and Jeff Schlupp (who doubled up as a left back)

  • I honestly thought i was watching a new airing of 'faking it' I've never seen a prem striker look so slow, lost and postured. As said above he couldnt even managed not to gob on his own shirt.

  • He looked lost in the championship...

  • Kane has a bit about him, not much, but a bit, if Defoe is off to Toronto, then he's next in line behind Adebayor and Soldado.

Sherwood has made it known he's going to be playing the kids until further notice, no money in the january sales so the kids play.

Which is good I think, hoping one of our promising youngsters gets to show what they can do, Bentaleb was impressive when he came on, so hoping some of the others show willing as well..

  • Sherwood. Legend. Cut him in half and he bleeds THFC.

  • Still in with a shout for the CL places.
