Bike is nice but price is lols compared to comparable stuff on here.
Ebay might be best if you want that kinda money.. -

Depends on what your after with regards to price doesnt it. You could buy a bike for £300-400 and spend the same turning into exactly what you want, upgrading etc. The bike is mint, you cant get better than a full dura ace period correct build and it was fully re-furbished by the original finishers less than a year ago. So its completely finished, ready to ride... You wouldnt have to spend a penny more doing anything to it. So yeah it might be more expensive but that depends on what your comparing to. For example the wheels cost £120 just to be built (exc the cost of the hubs and rims) by pete matthews just down the road from me.

It's a nice stead fella, but if you want that kind of money splitting might be the answer, or ebay as suggested above. Good luck

Some busy bodies knocking about isn't there. Get a life. Why didn't you just explain the rule instead of trying to be clever? Just read the rules and seen the ruling. Strange rule like, don't know what the difference is if somebody can just put it in the eBay / craigslist thread, then it's still viewable by people who access the lfgss forum. Anyway, well done for noticing, little goodie goodie

Christ almighty i was only giving you the heads up. On reflection i should have linked to the rules rather than the ad. Additionally i was just on the two forums at the same time, im not policing the forum but it is policed and some people have been banned for not reading the rules. Glws

Shimano is fishing rod shit. You can get better, it's called Campagnolo or SRAM.

Hilly ben, prepare yourself for some abuse from the seller.....

Ha ha, it's not abuse mate, just educating someone who obviously struggles to read a full sentence. Did you notice the words 'Period Correct'? The bike has shimano dropouts, and given the quality of the frame, a full Dura Ace (Period correct) groupset would of been the best of the best for that frame at the time. Hence why I built it up using Dura Ace 74xx.
Obviously you sound like you'd rather throw a SRAM groupset on it.....

Thought the rules were that you can't cross advertise. Someone do me a favour and get me off this forum!

Hi EFC1878, I agree with you about the Dura Ace, looks great and mechanically equal if not superior to campag etc. not sure about price, guess just worth what someone would pay.
About the comments, gotta take the rough with the smooth with this website, but there are reasons about not advertising the same item elsewhere - building a community and fairness etc. GLWTS and happy new year to all forummers :)
Right, I've decided to sell my 1986 Walvale road bike. Fully refurbished just less than a year ago at C&G on smithdown road, Liverpool where it was originally finished in 1986. I'm selling to fund a new "modern" bike ready for next summer. I don't want to leave it in the shed this winter as it's damp and ideally I'd like it to go to someone who has the space to look after it properly!
Its 55cm square frame, reynolds 531c tubing, chromed Shimano dropouts, cinelli bb shell. It's a blue metallic at the front fading to pearlescent white across the rest of the bike. Full period correct shimano dura ace 7400 8 speed groupset, inc headset, pedals, seatpost and hubs. I had the wheels built up by Pete Matthews, they are 32 spoke dura ace hubs laced to nos period araya rims.
Its probably seen around 400 - 600 miles since it got refurbished and rebuilt and it rides lovely as you'd expect from a frame like this with the components it has. Considering its age it's light, ive not weighed it but comparing it to mates carbon fiber bikes it doesnt give away much! There is one tiny scratch on the top tube from use, and the seatclamp bolt has chipped a bit of the paint in its recess where it tightens up, and there is some shoe scuff on the drive side crank arm. Other than that the bike is mint as can be seen from the photos.
Im looking for around £700 judging on the price of other similar frames with similar equipment that I've seen sold recently on retro bike and eBay. I know this may sound expensive, but its a rare bike, and it has top of the range period correct equipment that will give many years brilliant use for somebody. Its ready to ride, and it will also come with a spare dura ace headset and spare dura ace rear mech. If anyone wants to view the bike or has any questions, get in touch. I usually dont mind posting, but with this having not been refurbished long, id hate for it to pick up any damage so would much prefer a collection.
