been out twice over the last two weekends in what i'd call semi 'wintery' conditions and hit the deck both times :-) falling hard on my right elbow each time. thankfully just grazed arm and nothing serious.
can't believe my luck of late as i've ridden throughout the winter for the last X years and never taken a tumble and have had two in two weeks!
yesterday I was decelerating as i was approaching a bend and all of a sudden heard cracking ice then boom straight down. i could hardly stand upright to pick my bike up! luckily i lost a lot of speed before hitting the road.
stay safe out there guys! think i'll give the weekend rides a rest for a bit -

The doubletap tribute ride looks stunning, complete with vast scenic panoramas and herds of wildebeest.
Sorry to hear that, AirTime, I think it's my fault for feeling smug not having crashed in over a year. It's clearly contagious.
I have yet to crash my new bike. I have yet to ride my new bike. These two facts are connected.

Hope you and the wheels are relatively unscathed

The Essex one is Mount Road heading towards Fiddlers Hamlet right?

^^ ^
Shit, that first one is where I've gone down twice (over the space of about 3 years), and where I saw the other guy had hit the deck... both times for me were as if you're heading in the direction of the pic and taking the left.Sounds like an excuse, but there must be a really really really smooth patch of tarmac there or something. Although the bend encourages you to take it fast, the second time I did it I wasn't going all that quick and it wasn't icy.
I've now blacklisted that bend. If I'm gonna go round it, I'll feckin get off the bike and walk around!

Went out to the surrey hills but turned round in Ashtead. Fuck this weather

Kent lanes were grim as fuck today. 45 miles but took forever thanks to a few punctures in the group. Nice warm turbo session tomorrow but not until I've helped out a CX race.

Seriously considering a 100 miler to dover this tuesday. Not sure how stupid this is.

Monumentally stupid, 100 miles in the opposite direction to Dover is sane....

:D Unfortunately, I have an obligation to visit my sister, who happens to reside in that town.

If I wanted coffee and toilets I'd ride 40k out to Great Missenden or similar and then turn around. Isn't there a similar option for you?
What's your route out to Great Missenden and back from London?
Used to go to school there wouldn't mind a trip back to the old stomping ground. Can't remember anywhere decent i'd like to leave my bike and stop for coffee. -

Uxbridge Rd > A40 > A413. It's not pretty but it's better than doing laps. I wouldn't stop there, it's just an example of the top of my head.

fuck A40>A413!

No thanks.
Remaining shreds of worn out Planet X, with half the palm missing (now with all the palm missing).
This bloke in a BMW...... No, not true, damp corner plus wet leaves late braking and idiocy! No rides for a week or so I'd guess, I can see why the pros look after their hands in a crash. Still, perfecting left-handed drinking technique....
