For Sale: Dolan Track Champion 58cm - w/Thomson, Omniums, Carbon wheels, Hed disc

It's the HHSB motherload! Sort of.

I have come to the realisation that I probably won't get a storage space at the track next year, probably won't have time to ride there anyway, and that I'm not very good at track riding anyway. I have some nice kit taking up space in my girlfriend's flat, and that's not really fair.

What I am therefore offering for sale is:

Dolan Track Champion frame, Alpina forks & headset, 58cm (geometry here)
Sram Omnium cranks & GXP BB, 170mm (<200 miles)
Specialities TA Full-Track chainring, 52t (<200 miles)
KMC Devil chain, gold (<200 miles)
Thomson Elite seatpost, 27.2mm
Thomson Elite X2 stem, 110mm (not pictured)
Planet-X Strada handlebars & Deda track drops
Selle Italia Turbo saddle, brand new (not pictured)

All that could be yours for a very reasonable £460

Why so reasonable? Well, the only slight issue is a small hairline crack in the frame at the top of the seatpost clamp area, the old Track Champion problem. It has not grown since I first found it, despite me changing the saddle height in the mean time. I have raced the bike multiple times since finding it, and I think unless you were extremely clumsy with the seatpost bolt, it should be ok. Even if the crack were to grow, the frame is far from a write-off, but that could be a pain.

If you think the bike would work better with wheels, you'd be on to something.

If you'd like to own the bike as it is in the picture below, with a set of carbon Navigator Pista wheels, you could have the lot for £760. The rear is punctured, but the price includes a replacement Continental Sprinter tyre. The front has a brand new Sprinter.

If you'd like to own the bike with the setup below (it's more hipster like this, you can tell because the picture is from Instagram), you get the two wheels above plus a Hed disc which has been converted to a track wheel, as well as a special crack pipe inflator from V-Sprint to blow it up. The tub, another Sprinter with around 100 miles on it, holds air and can be pumped up, but the valve core snapped off, though this should be easily replaceable. This setup will cost £1000

I would sell the carbon wheels alone for £320, and the disc alone for £250, but preference goes to those who want it all.

Flite isn't I'm afraid, I'd be selling it with a brand new Turbo. I'd rather not split to be honest, but if I get an offer for the F&F first I'd consider it.

Also if I did split I might keep the Thomson finishing kit...

Disc is tub?

Correct.

I wouldn't recommend it for fixie skidding as the convertor is glued onto the freewheel thread (though others have ridden brakeless to/from the track with a similar setup) - and obviously it being a tub means skidding would be a bit daft.

For track and TTs it should be fine though.

I have fitted the Thomson stem and taken some more pictures of the bike. Under the fluorescent lights of my girlfriend's kitchen I realised what a beauty it is.

No more price drops, if it doesn't sell I'll just keep it and try and get to the track when I can, I won't get something as good for this money. I have also shown the teeny crack in the photos:

In response to a claim that Dolan were selling these framesets for £500 with wheels I had a look at the various options on the Dolan website.

To make up a bike of a similar spec, you're looking at over a grand. And that is with Alpina/Deda 01 finishing kit, a basic saddle, standard Navigator Pista wheels, and only in size 60cm.

For £990 now you could have a better spec bike, with a carbon wheelset AND a disc, and a really nice finishing kit with two handlebar options. Or you could let me keep it and try and use it next year!
