Jambikes – any good?

They do a package to 'convert' a road bike to a fixed. A friend of mine's considering it for a cheap new build, but I can't help but think the parts look like they've been stripped off a Create. Has anyone had any experience of this place?

  • Looks dodge!!!!

  • Yeah, the more I look over the website, it looks like it's run from someone's bedroom. Not a good look.

  • Shite heavy components for not much money. Seems fair.

    Meh.

  • Shit components. Worse than create. Cheap though.

  • Bought some wheels, flip flop hub, chain, chainring. Really low quality, very heavy, dumped chain as just painted chain had so many stiff links, next to useless. Wheels low quality, very poor tyres, worn through after a couple of trips out. Paint on wheels peeling off and bubbling in less than six weeks. No response from Jambikes. Real waste of money.

  • Speaking from experience, I have been stung here. Very low quality, lasted 6 weeks.

  • Cheap, spent £120 on the jam package, total rip off.

  • i think this thread would have given you ample warning, sorry for your misfortune

  • Yeah, but my karma must be low as I didn't come across it until after the deed. I guess you live and learn.

  • Sorry to bring up the old thread, but I bought the Jam package for £99 on offer two years ago. tbh the quality is not great, the tapers on the Lasco cranks twisted and became screwed after not very long, so I bought some 70s SR Crank arms, and a new Andel Chain ring, which are much better. The KMC chain is, well, a KMC chain. The tyres have lasted pretty well, but then again I don't skid every 10 seconds. I'm still using the wheels on my Peugeot build, although I'm looking to upgrade soon !
