Reflexes slower than yours? Punch him.

Wait for him to stop scratching, then get up, go for a wee or something. Show him that scratching does not equal attention. Don't give him attention while he scratches. I do this with my cat, she was also a dick. Now she's nice instead.

I've thought about this, but I'm worried about the neighbours as much as me: I don't want to be the guy who lets his pet scratch away all night and keep them up. Tricky.
