Just as a cycling specific example, if you save $100 on your brakes and then spend that $100 paying a local coach to improve your riding, you get more out of cycling and more of your money stays in your local economy for longer. Also, Taiwan gets $100 to spend on US built F-16s, but that's a side issue.

Most services are paid through taxes so you're paying for them anyway.

You have a narrow definition of services, and an almost serf like acceptance of the idea that paying taxes to get services is in any way a good idea. If government-provided services were such a good thing, they wouldn't have to steal our money at gunpoint to force us to buy them.

^ Paying taxes is great. It means poor people don't die of hunger and/or cold. I feel a warm surge of altruistic pride every time I pay my taxes. Without tax I would be entirely selfish, not just 98%

Beautiful bike , very sleek.

Don't much like the BMC frame design, but this one is different, I love it, wouldn't mind giving it a blast round Manchester velodrome.
