This.
In my experience the people with hiring power very rarely write the ad. Personally I would puke if a prospective new employee tried to copy the job ad buzzwords and company jargon... lingo... whatever.

^ You do? Really?
I'd expect you creatives have your own subverted, de-constructed, modified, intense versions of these stock business phrases and/or stick an 'ism' at the end of all the words...:)
Well yeah, in the studio we talk our own creative jargon but I'm organising the project with a massive company and several contractors and a bunch of other people who talk like that so I've fallen into the trap of using it in order to communicate with them easier.

Duly noted, although personally I would be hesitant to take advice from a woman prepared to drill holes in a NJS fork ;)

Sorry to be thick but use search tools for what? Reduce numbers of what?
I agree you should refer specifically to the job spec and hone in on the skills and details it cites but surely showing some originality is a good thing too?
So many CVs are received for every job that they automate the first level of filtering so they have less to go through. Google are the kings of this. If you don't have the correct words on you CV it will never even be seen by a human.
They use tools to scan the CV and covering letter for the specific terms they want. So if they are looking for an Excel and Access specialist, a CV that only has "all MS Office tools to a very high level" will get ignored. If they specify Project Management in the job spec, make sure you have the same words somewhere in your application. You can be as flowery as you want but just make sure you have all the terms they are likely to filter on and your chances of getting noticed increase hugely.

I see. Thanks for explaining.
Sounds like it would be a great system for a dating website.

"moving forwards"
I used to work with someone who used this constantly, but would pronounce it "fo'ads" like some Yanks do. Bugged the piss out of me.

Overheard in my own front room no less.
Fucking Christmas.
