It's all gone quiet since showing the car examples so maybe something sunk in.
Wow, you are tolling, or you think have a case to make? You're being spoon-fed here but are still holding onto the useless car analogue.
It was velocio nutter who used the term replica/bootleg. The placement of those stickers on the wheels would be unsanctioned and unauthorised. Similar to a frame builder sticking a higher end tube set sticker on a stovepipe frame after refurbishing it.
Of course. Harmless fun, until you try and sell under false pretences... which is clearly indefensible (yes, even if you muddy it with some bullshit about kit cars).

What is up with the usual rep vigilantes? This guy has only gone from cat 2 to cat 3 rep status. Am quite frankly amazed.

Well whether they're just ignorant or have taken anything on board, so be it.
It's all gone quiet since showing the car examples so maybe something sunk in.
That's me done.

My opinion, sell whatever you want bearing whatever branding you want on one condition - you are implicitly clear about which items are not 'as branded'.
Using the word 'replica' once in the body of an advert is not being implicitly clear and for that you deserve what you get be that a neg rep or messages on your user profile warning potential buyers off of you.

Completely agree with everyone. Every comment acknowledged and accepted.
Isn't it just disgusting that the Ford GT40 and Ferrari 458 are being sold as replicas?
The word replica is absolutely meaningless isn't it?
It basically means fake, counterfeit and the people selling them are trying to deceive people out of £50000 and £35000 respectively.
Isn't it just madness?

If you flog your dead horse just a bit more it's bound to agree with you

The word replica is absolutely meaningless isn't it?
No, it has a quite specific meaning, and one which nobody in their right mind would apply to a pair of generic wheels with brand name decals slapped on them.
-
• #160
I know, it shouldn't be applied to the cars either should it?
-
• #161
Depends which car. There are modern reproductions of cars which are long out of production by their original manufacturer which qualify as replicas. There are also kit cars which have nothing in common with their inspiration beyond a vague similarity in outline.
But this is a mere diversion - whatever goes on in the world of powered vehicles has absolutely no bearing on the fact that putting Easton decals on some generic rims doesn't make them replicas, it makes them counterfeits whose sale without heavy disclaimers probably amounts to fraud. In short, you're a crook, you got busted, now STFU.

Fucking hell. Members of bike radar and lfgss often have very different viewpoints, but it appears both communities agree that you should fuck off. You appear to be able to believe your own lies, even in the face of many people who have correctly contradicted you.

trager, stop being a jerk.
You're trying to sell replica items, you've been told not to and explained why rather than just banned. You then start arguing with others. When called on this you show no grace but turn to reporting people. All whilst actually breaking the forum rules by listing items on here and eBay at the same time.
People wonder why I ban people and don't bother talking to them... but this is precisely why. When I'm lenient and try the communication route the person is nearly always a jerk who just wants to argue rather than respect the way the community wants the place to be.
So I'll cut to the chase and will just ban you, and then you can go sulk on another forum about moderator nutters over here (or whatever it is you're going to do).
And what is with all the ploughman sandwiches on eBay as "plant seeds" for £0.01?

Dibs!

Not ploughman's sandwiches, just regular cheese and pickle rolls. Yet another case of mislabelling, you'll probably want to undibs.

True, only the top brands have mastered optimum compaction.

True. There's not nearly enough pickle.

I ate a LOT of pine nuts the other night and felt very ill.
I was sick at roughly 01:30 and then went to bed feeling a little better. -

Define "lot": was it a metric or imperial lot?
Best start a list:

Roughly a quarter pint, so about 3.5cm.

That's a stunned silence at the utter irrelevance of the spurious automotive analogy.
