  • This is still on and from what Gareth has said, it doesn't sound particularly treasure hunty! I'll definitely be checking it out, maybe see some of you there.

  • Vickstein, is there an average length for the Norwich Alleycats? I have got plans I forgot about at 4 on Sunday, and I'm wondering whether I'll be able to do both?

  • Gareth says it's 10 clues, 1 task and 5 punch-out points so make of that what you will. Norwich is really small and if you know it reasonably well you could probably rinse it in an hour-ish? Gareth did also say that this one is pretty easy so it gives people a chance to ease back in.

  • Ah cool, thanks for finding out. I'm not sure I'll make this one though anyway now, so apologies for poor form, but hopefully with some suggestions form people on here the next one will be even better!

  • Today, yo!

  • I turned up an hour early because apparently I can't read.. See you there!

  • I've had to come back to London for works. Post lots of pics, people.

  • Was a good laugh and certainley fairly fast pace needed to win.
Looking forward to next months one. Hope to see a few more faces there.
Goo combination of city knowledge and speed required

  • Yep, it was definitely fast paced enough and definitely a sense of competition. I think Gareth is going to keep to the Sunday afternoon and finishing at the Playhouse thing which is good because Harbercue are doing lush burgers there in the afternoon! I suggested a ghost themed Cat for next month as it'll coincide nicely with Halloween. Definitely a good way to spend a Sunday afternoon.

  • I was gutted I couldn't make it, will definitely come to the next one. Glad to hear it was a bit more racey than some expected.

  • Yea, it was pretty decent and I didn't find any of the checkpoints hard to find once I knew where they were, if that makes sense. Nothing stupid like being hidden or with intentionally-misleading clues, so the pace was fast (if one wanted it to be).

Somehow only one person completed it all as intended, apparently - I think due to a slight lack of specificity in some of the questions.

  • Next one is 27th October. Meet at the forum at 12.
    Stick it on your calendar

  • This Sunday, yo!
Earlier meeting time is due to clock going back malarkey, so be at
    the Forum for 12.

  • So, only seven people turned up for this yesterday. More numbers needed! Gareth is planning a much bigger Alleycat for Christmas which includes 20 miles for the punch points alone but it's not worth the effort if no one shows up.

  • Norwich AlleyCat. Sunday 29th of December.

The start point will be outside of the Forum at 12 O'clock and it will finish at the Red Lion Bishopgate

This one will be a little bit special as it will comprise of two parts. The first being the Treasure Hunt using the 10 clues to solve, 8 unmanned checkpoints to pass through and the 2 simple tasks to complete format that we have been using for almost 2 years now.

However, there will be an optional second part to this AlleyCat, which will be a timed Navigational Challenge passing through another 10 unmanned control points dotted about the city. This will start and finish at the Red Lion Bishopgate, and you may only take part in the 2nd part if you have completed the first part.

Just so that there is no misunderstanding, there will be a total of 18 unmanned checkpoint punches located about the city. 8 for the treasure hunt part of the AlleyCat, and another 10 checkpoint punches at different locations for the navigational challenge. The 8 Treasure Hunt and 10 Navigational Challenge checkpoint punches will not share any of the same locations, although it is possible (highly likely!) that you might cycle short sections of, and cross your previous route several times.

The Treasure Hunt is £1 per person, and the Navigational Challenge is £1 per person.

Those transporting their bicycles to Norwich by car will be allowed to park free of charge in the Red Lion's car park (accessed by road from Bishopgate only) for the day, but you will have to display an AlleyCat parking pass obtained from the bar in the windscreen of your car. There will be Sunday carvery available from the bar all afternoon until about 5pm at £7.95 per head, along with the usual crisps, nuts, scratching's and pickled egg snacks etc. Tea and Coffee will also be available to purchase. http://redlionnorwich.com/

10 clues to solve, 8 unmanned checkpoints to pass through and two tasks to complete. .......£1 per person entry fee, and you will need to bring a pen and digital camera or camera phone with you.

A map or an A-Z of Norwich, a sense humour, a sense of direction and knowing your left from right may give you a distinct advantage!
