  • I find layering oversocks under overshoes pretty good too - and still sort-of breathable

  • Yes. Helpful as these tips are they'll not reinforce my self images as a serious cyclist through overspending.

  • #csb

    :-P

  • Just go for the brightest loudest overshoes you can find. Or MTFU

  • Did I imagine that Rapha did a full L/S fluo yellow jersey at some point?

Not the Brevet one that's on the current site (which comes with a yellow gilet), but like the Pro Team jersey in Chartreuse/Charcoal.

If not, can anyone recommend a decent merino L/S fluo jersey which has a good cut to it? I would wear the Vini Fantini kit, but can't find anywhere it's sold in the UK. Plus I don't really want to associate myself with that team if I can help it.

  • The old Team Pro Jacket come in Chartreuse.

  • Wore my hardshell out today for a hilly 100km in low single digit temperatures, partly rainy. Really did the business, and did not overheat with just a 150gsm baselayer and some long thick tights underneath.

  • Not working hard enough? Those jackets are seriously hot if you're riding at any kind of tempo.

  • Yeah, I was surprised to read that^^ I've only ever worn mine once on a proper ride and it was when it the heaviest rain I've ever cycled in. They're awful for riding in unless the temp is below 0 in my opinion.

  • I think Dumps is cold blooded and adapts to whatever the temperature is around him.

  • helpful.

  • I don't know what that means

  • Could be to do with work rate, the roads were pretty shitty and narrow so couldn't really get going a lot of the time. Seemed OK on hills too though.

  • Pro team jacket, long sleeve baselayer, bibs+winter tights, winter collar+winter hat today:

Would have preferred to be a bit warmer if I'm honest- when the wind blew it felt quite chilly.

If I'd been giving it the beans I'd have been fine, but for today's Zone 2 excursion I think I need to wear a heavier jacket.

  • I just had a LS BL, a winter jersey and winter tights with cross winter hat and it was ok. Winter jersey perhaps not best for windy days might have to use the softshell with my half zip helly hansen BL from next week.

  • Lol

  • If you own Rapha, is it a requirement to post what you wore on your most recent ride and your opinion on whether you were a comfortable temperature or not? Thanks

  • I think that's the rule, yes.

Thanks for reminding me. A Rapha summer cap, a tatty corduroy jacket, and jeans. The cap was frankly too hot on climbs,, but this was mitigated by the ventilation holes conveniently worn into the jeans' gusset, which proved a real boon on the descents. 6/10, would wear again after thorough washing.

  • Wore the Rapha long sleeve jersey in the office the other day. Never realised that you are unable to push the sleeves up with these. So not really good for doing the dishes at work.

  • What zone were you in while doing the dishes and were you at a comfortable temperature in your LS jersey?

  • Were you comfortable even with it raining outside?

  • Wore my Rapha classic jersey while making a curry last night. It wasn't boil in the bag type affair though as I used my rice steamer.
