Wanted: Colnago 53.5cm tt 55cm st

  • Looking for a Colnago road frame,

    preferably a 53.5 - 54cm top-tube
    54-55cm seat-tube

Not too bothered about the condition, just no dents or bends please.

I have many things to swap but I'd prefer to give cash for it.

  • I think you'll struggle to find an undersquare Colnago road frame. 54 x 54 you should have no problem though.

  • Didn't colnago do 1/2 sizing back in the 80s?

    I'd be happy with a 54square

  • Half sizes they might have done, but not road frames with shorter top tubes than seat tubes (centre-to-centre, that is). Which is what I mean by 'undersquare'. There might be the odd one but it would have been custom sizing and rather out of step with Italian road bike geometry of that era.

  • There a few supers on ebay that size.

Is there a Tecnos for sale on here that size?

  • Didn't colnago do 1/2 sizing back in the 80s?

    I'd be happy with a 54square

I have one, in need of sandblast & repaint (and rechromed fork) after which it could look like this

    it's a 55 seat tube (c-t) 54 top tube (c-c). It's an early 1980s specimen I think

    Will take some pics tomorrow

  • Nice, I could do all of those things! Little early but possible dibs?

What sorta money you looking for?

    James

  • no dibs necessary, I saw your thread and thought I'd offer it to you, won't sell it to anyone before you've decided

there's some pics here, it's fine structurally but as I said deserves a proper refurbishment.

    cheers

  • Lovely! is that chrome under the rear seat stays? Also what tubing is it?

    James

  • Cheers

It's Columbus SL as per usual

I don't think it's chrome underneath but I'll check again by scraping off some more paint this evening

  • After having a think about it I know i'd only restore it, built it up and not keep it.

I've got my heart set on a gilco tubed frame.

Thank-you for the opportunity, Peter. I really do appreciate it!

  • no problem james, good luck with the search

  • Nice!

    Are the forks original?

  • No afraid not, they are carbon...

  • not sure on the brand either...as there are no markings

  • I have a colnago dream hp d stay 55 top tube 52 seat tube as its a sloped top tube a couple of scratches but in great condition carbon colnago forks seatpost stem and headset £350

  • If you where to swap the tubes around we'd have a deal!

    thanks anyway

  • bump

  • If you're still looking I've got a Colnago VIP 2000, 53.5 c-c top tube, 51 c-c seat tube with a 54 c-t seat tube. Columbus Altec 2 aluminium, frame only though, no forks.
