44rns are so last season. What I've heard Factory5 is the shizzle right now:
And yes, they come in black as well. -

Two of my mates just ordered them, I think they're proper ugly though.

I need a new chainring and zens are ugly.

I've never really understood the design of the 44rn 144, aesthetics wise. But yeah, I'd probably pick one of them instead of a zen for a HHSB build. Those Factory5s are still nicer tho.

This is the BBS RS* of chainrings.
If Dubber Maths™ is to be adhered to, they should only be attached to bicycles that are 1/4 of the chainrings value.*For those not familiar

I don't understand you either.

Okay, so let's start with the Zen then shall we:
Intended use would be NJS builds, where the massive chainring looks out of place next to skinny steel frame tubes. Black Zens do not work for me 'cos the big ass white kanjin and red Zen logo mess up the feng shui, so silver Zen is the way to go. But a thorough silver component build on a slave bike is hard to pull off. Works well with raw aluminium and I like the minimalism (bar the logo) of it, but on most builds it's just out of place.Next up is the 44rn 144 chainring:
I like the way that it's something different from classic chainring design (DA, Campa etc.), but I'm not feeling the asymmetry of it. Especially the one cutout that is just recessed is bugging me off. Still, it's a very nice, modern chainring. And the Factory5 chainring:
Yeah, it reminds me a lot of the 44rn, but I fancy it better because of the symmetry and the three dimensional effect of the cutouts. It's also a nice mix between classic and modern design, with a familiar double ring shape, but with elaborate details.Questions?

Wow. Zigura seems like a tasteless motherfucker.
Zen is not just for NJS builds. They've been used by world champion track cyclists for years and are great.
44rn is a nice idea. Better now it has a decent tooth count, but still needs to be made with more tooth options.
That F5 thing just looks like it's trying too hard. Like the Phil Wood ring.

^ cool story bro
Is it more hip to refer to petersburg by it's USSR name now?Whilst we're on cyrillic, Maxuoh is Takhion, a hypothetical particle that always travels faster than the speed of light
I thought it was impossible to travel faster than the speed of light, hence why time slows down to stop you or something like that?

I was just making my point for Marksy there. No need to get all PMS about it.
I was comparing the looks (HHSB context u know) and not some track cycling performance aspect of Zen rings (and I didn't even say they're just for keirin).
