  • Does anyone run their pomp with a pannier rack? If so, which rack do you use? Can it take any standard rack or does it need to be narrower?
    Cheers

  • Any rack will be fine.

  • I find mine is too short in the rear for a rack, well, for the panniers anyway. My heels clip them.

I'm gonna put a lowrider on the front and run front panniers.

  • Either a different rack with a lower mounting point, and/or a different panniers that have a bigger range of adjustment to move it further away from your heel will sort it out.

It's ok with my Vaude pannier but I also have some that are held on with elastic ares hooks at the bottom and these sit at angle and pull pannier forward and stuff. I think front will be better and I like stuff at front do camera is easier to get to etc.

  • Yes but it is tiny.

  • Yeah it was the same for me when I looked first. Only I look at it now and I see it massive three times?!

  • http://www.lfgss.com/post3518163-2702.html never got round to taking a photo of this one myself before it got passed on. Sm glow in the dark polo pomp, much fun had.

  • The Kaffenback might give you a hint of what the new Pompino might look;

  • Looks very good, I'm thinking about the new pomp just so I can have something with a brake, largish tyres and mudguards for longer wet weather rides.

The would let me keep the seta as a slave/track bike and the brooklyn as a commuter/off road.

  • Add brake and mudguard to BMW instead? it's not like you can't wack a disc fork on it.

that's what I got mine for, except I use it for all wet weather rides. I'm a mudguard lover now.

  • brooklyn as a commuter/off road.

But that is exactly what a Pompino is for. Off road and commuting.

  • Just came across this pic by chance and thought what a great build it looked.

Would it be a pain to ask for a brief run through some of the components you have used? I'm looking for inspiration and I'm strugling to find good wheels, bottom braket, chain ring and cranks.

    Cheers, James

  • Wheels look like Mavic A319 / A719 with black spokes and System X/similar hubs.

  • Nature Boy fork, [incorrect brake lever guess], Tektro mini-v brake, Time ATAC pedals, SKS Chromoplastic mudguards...

Looks a bit like SRAM cranks/chainring, could be mistaken though.

  • sram s500 levers.

  • Do they do s500 in black?

  • I see. Will put my glasses on/spend more time Google-ing next time

  • Thanks all.

I want some wheels like that, anyone care to recommend a decent builder or source?

  • Buy the hubs online - either on-one if they're still cheap or where ever else you can find systemX hubs.

Rims wherever online where ever is cheapest. Other options are:
KinLin ADH from hubjub c.£30 each; or
Rigida from SJS or that other shop with green logos.
Velocity Dyad (although they have a low profile V-shape rather than box-like)
    ACI Spokes from cyclebasket

PM Arup on here to ask about building.

Other options are looking at Halo.
