93 images? You'd have thought an agency like Reuters would have someone who knew how to edit a set of images.

93, covering a whole year, is hardly a lot for anyone interested in photography.

If it had been 93 outstanding images I'd
agreestill think it was too many, for a web gallery. Maybe if they were presenting an actual physical exhibition…But anyway, there were quite a few bland images of uninteresting stories in there.
I was taught that your set is only ever as good as it's weakest image. Lot's of examples of astounding subject matter exceedingly well shot being dragged down by the dross.

yeah, but... that one is great ^^^^

A lot of the reuters photos are a bit meh... but they are obviously being used simply as a means to tell the story. (Compiling the top 93 of the year though I'd have also expected a better set of images - they have more than enough quality to pick from). For example, this one is in the editor's picks today and isn't even in focus:

Nobody tell me, my ignorant guesses are more fun. This, for me, is why the image is a fail. It shouldn't need a caption or a story. The image should tell (at least the majority of) the story by itself.

Fail?
No way, the incongruity is part of the charm for me.
