How many times is it acceptable to be fired?

Not being good enough to do a job isn't nearly as bad as just doing your job badly imo - you can always work on new abilities, try repairing a bad reputation though...

Agreed. That was what happened to me, I was trying to work beyond my abilities. That's why the same company gave me another try 9 years on, the fools.
