Got sacked 7 years ago from a job in Orpington. Same guy interviewed me 4 weeks ago and I'm working under him in a different firm now.
Not being good enough to do a job isn't nearly as bad as just doing your job badly imo - you can always work on new abilities, try repairing a bad reputation though...
