  • The gold-ish finish on the Mag 21 fork could work with the frame:

One of the first oil and air sprung suspension forks. I would actually loose the rubber boot, cleaner look but that would mean a bit more maintenance if it is used regularly.

  • tbh , it really is just a low budget beater/rescue thing, so as it is, all I'd for more parts is just get a seat post, and poss black bars, then done

New bars and wheel. Think the saddle to bar drop may be to big for riding to Bristol to London but we'll see...

  • Got any bigger pictures? I'm having trouble making that one out

  • Yeah Luke that link isn't working for me!

My ride of choice: swapped the bars out today and got a bottle cage on, pretty much a touring bike.

  • Yeah Luke that link isn't working for me!

Now that the script has turned it to a link, it's working, but at 2,592 x 1,936 pixels it's a big ugly camera file which could be improved by a 4:1 reduction, at least that would make the sensor noise less obvious :-)

  • Yea ill upload something a little smaller, just did it on my phone...

  • Audax bike

  • Bristol to London ride

  • New bars look good rob.

  • I've finally managed to have a bit of a fiddle with my new frame, a lovely and light Reynolds 853 Donohue. Terrible picture attached. I should hopefully get a bit more time to finish it off next week. It's getting carbon forks (and a brake for emergencies), omniums, a black alien seatpost, an SLR saddle, hoods and SPD SL pedals (as well as all the less exciting bits that make up a bike). I'm setting it up as a sensible and comfortable fixed to do some longer rides on and having my mielec as a pub bike and beater.

Definitely keep the forks if you can. For starters, they're beautifully made and quite unique (Ted James said so). They also ride better than any other fork I've used! I was sadly stupid enough to ride and crash hammered on a couple of occasions and bent mine out of shape so they've now had to be replaced and the frame/forks combo is not as responsive

Looking forward to seeing this fully built up!

  • @brizzlelads: Spok stickers look good :)

  • if i was to get this repainted

i'd be cheeky and do it Lazer Azure blue ,

    rather than the original Copper

i think the blue looks better against the silver finish of the right components

Don't respray. Burgundy is gawgeous. Need all black component imo.

  • ok, thanks
( would cut the build bills ))
i have 3 'nelli's that are on that cyclingnews list now, 3rd is the argentovivo

will have vintage black campag mtb gruppo, with thumb shifters, volare saddle & 3t stem and bars
shifter bar attachments need a refurb

  • Readers wifing this one, just bolted together and dusted off, on its way to the Vulpine show. Lazy chain and far out in the dropouts because I usually ride it with different cogs and rings on

  • ^ Vv nice mate, what's the frame size?

  • just about finished this now, just want a black brake lever and thats it really

  • ^^^^^^
We have a pair of Donohue 'power' forks which are undamaged. Bad news is that the column is for 48cm frame but it would be possible to get someone like Winston to fit a longer column. £15 picked up in Cambridge. Can send images if you pm your email.

  • New tyres, clean bike.

I'll fit the drilled carbon jobbies for now then look into drilling the steel ones later on. I don't want to ruin them so I'm not sure if I'll end up drilling them or not. I get a lot more pleasure out of riding with a brake so if i can't drill them they'll probably go unused unfortunately! I made a little bit of progress today and now I'm just waiting on a couple of tools so I can finish this off.

    Should have won.

  • it would make a wonderful chrisymas present to us forum proles if you'd be so gracious as to post the plans on completion ;-)
There's nothing radical in design. My new jig will be based pretty much on Arctos jig.

Main beams are 160x80mm and 80x80mm T-slot aluminum extrusions. Smaller ones are 40x40mm.

Today I made HT fitting for 44mm and 1 1/8" head tubes.

  • many thanks!
