I've some how really broken a Seagate hard drive. It will parition but fails to format. Ran seagate diagnostic tools (both the basic and long). Seagate tools say the drive is fine. Still fails to format. Tried in both Windows and Linux, with NTFS/BFS/Ext3/4/JFS/XFS. I'm assuming the drive is toast, but then why does the Seagate tools scan every sector of the drive and say it's fine ?
