  • Kitchen cabinet doors look nice.

RIGHT! That cutting board is the shiz as well! Gotta put some towels underneath it though.

  • I've finally managed to have a bit of a fiddle with my new frame, a lovely and light Reynolds 853 Donohue. Terrible picture attached. I should hopefully get a bit more time to finish it off next week. It's getting carbon forks (and a brake for emergencies), omniums, a black alien seatpost, an SLR saddle, hoods and SPD SL pedals (as well as all the less exciting bits that make up a bike). I'm setting it up as a sensible and comfortable fixed to do some longer rides on and having my mielec as a pub bike and beater.

Why change the fork on that beauty? Keep them on, they look great and I am sure they will ride great too.

  • Time to get this bike done.

  • Black bar tape, black rolls or reydel gti or bontrager, mavic seatpost ; )

  • I wouldn't mind a black reydel or a mavic seatpost. Too bad Mavic posts weren't made in 26.8.

  • Either way, it's 98% french being that the pedals and bb is Italiano.

  • On the c40, better ergonova or ergosum? Feel comfy on the ergonova but don't know if they'll look odd on it...

  • Why change the fork on that beauty? Keep them on, they look great and I am sure they will ride great too.

They look great and the clearance is really tight! The only problem is they're not drilled for a brake and I much prefer riding with one, otherwise they'd be staying!

  • Ah yeah, I forgot about the forks that came with it. They're pretty nice, need the chrome bits painting black though imo.

Maybe, the rest of the build is going to have little bits of chrome here and there though so I'm thinking it might look better unpainted. I'll see though.

  • They look great and the clearance is really tight!

    probably cause they're on backwards

  • ltc, those donohue bridges are quite meaty innit? i have one (be it nore grass track geometry) with a hideously drilled crown. if somebody with knowledge and steady hands wouldve done it, it wouldnt have been hideous.

anyways, all im saying is drill that mofo. no puppykilling; it makes it rideable for you.. plus, its not like that unicrown fork is a thing of beauty anyway is it?

    drill all the things! ;)

    All ready have a 26,2; 26,4 and 2. 27,2 a friend has a 26,6 why no 26,8 ?

Saxton flat? I'm in block D!

  • probably cause they're on backwards

They're actually not, looks like it though, might be the angle. Having said that it doesn look much different.

  • Saxton flat? I'm in block D!

    Yeah, F17! Come say hi!

  • There's a flat for HHS?

    Drill 'em?

  • ^^ there is now.
^ I'm not sure if they're drillable and I prefer the way carbon rides so I reckon practicality may take priority over tartishness for once!

  • srs clearances

  • Is a carbon fork going to ride better than a decent steel fork? IME there's not a lot in it.

  • I've only ridden shitty steel before to be fair. I'll see how it rides with the drilled carbon before I think about drilling the steel forks.

  • The carbon forks will almost certainly be a bit lighter. It's just that really nice steel forks (not sure if those are) can ride really well – it depends more on the particular forks than the material.

    Bloody lovely bike BTW.

  • So pissed you beat me on the auction.
    GRR

  • The forks ride lovely. The carbon ones ain't bad either, never seen another pair like them.

  • There's one for sale in the classifieds for about 100quid.
