This thread is to economics what they weight loss thread is to science.
Sometimes it's fun to read the nonsense and other times no sense or fun it makes.

I have also been thinking about how much bitcoin could be worth: £12.72
I also came up with a few other figures. If anyone is interested then I could post them here?

It is rapidly dawning on me that the only way I can easily sell my coins and make a profit is to become a drug dealer. Or buy a lambo.

Thinking more about how to value this currency.
Its lack of historical stability is the main concern but this only because I currently own 'stable' british pounds. What if I owned a highly inflationary currency.. what would then hold be back?
Report below considers just that and works out demand far outstrips supply.
Puts a value of $98500 on bitcoinhttp://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-price-reach-98500-say-wall-street-analysts/

Just read that. Good grief. It isn't much more elevated than the analysis in this thread. Particularly amusing lines:
this is a very rough calculation and we have made a lot of big assumptions
Those assumptions include:
- 10% of US online B2C transactions taking place in BTC, giving BTC dollar value of $1bn.
- US GDP accounting for 20% of world GDP, with penetration of e-commerce globally reaching US levels (!?), scaling BTC dollar value to $5bn.
And voila! Save that they manage to cook up another $10bn value from the similar flights of fantasy.
Summary - BAML are having a laugh, BTC overvalued by a factor of 10 plus.
- 10% of US online B2C transactions taking place in BTC, giving BTC dollar value of $1bn.
