Hi Ifgss,
I locked my bike up on Clapham High Street, SW4, a thief cut through the locks and went off with it.
Its a rare and beautiful frame from 1958, it's a G.R. Reed - Leo Star, made in Wimbledon. I bought the frame in the old Tokyo Fixed, two years ago.For information leading to its return I am offering £100.

Good luck Steve.
What locks did they cut? I hear they have new ways of chopping decent locks.
-
• #11256
There's a stolen bike topic that you can post it to.
-
• #11257
Thanks Fras, they were two decent locks but not D's which probably would have saved me this trouble

I have also posted it there as well, I wanted to cover ground so to speak.

• #11259
Ah shit. I wouldn't risk anything else. I've had 2 bikes stolen but they were unchained haha lesson learnt.

Dear all,
Thought you'd like to hear that after my Cervelo P3 was nicked in July from my house I saw the frame on Gumtree in Isleworth. I had seen the wheels before and tried to meet the guy but he cancelled the day before saying he'd sold them already. I thought the ad looked well dodgy for the frame as well as being in the same area so arranged to meet him at the station.
Called police 101 about 90 mins beforehand requesting support: they said they'd pass it to Hounslow police. Called again 20 mins to go: they said someone was assigned to it and would call me. I texted the guy a bit later and he said he was there and waiting. So I called 101 again and said it was now. Next thing, a police van with all sirens passes me and goes to the station. I assumed it would scare him and that would be the end of it. By the time I got there and parked they had him in cuffs and one copper was holding my frame. Quick check of the serial number against all my paperwork and job done! The police really were fantastic and so helpful. I think the case against the guy for handling stolen goods is watertight. The frame has some damage: I'll have to wait to get it back to check and see if its any use.The guy told me yesterday he is also selling a Trek Madone:
http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/trek-madone-52/1040906469
Which is clearly also nicked. The police were going to go round his house and take anything bike related they could find specifically including the Trek. If it's yours email me mjncrockerATgmail.com and I'll help or you can contact Hounslow police...
So if your bike gets nicked just keep an eye on Gumtree: I put an auto-alert for Cervelo. Get the evidence and arrange a meeting like this. I was worried it wasn't going to work out but credit where it's due, the police were absolutely awesome.
Matthew
My TT bike from outside my house in north Kingston on sunday afternoon, see pic below from ironman lanzarote this year..
Went inside for about a minute to get the keys to lock it up and someone had lifted it by the time I went back out. They went off towards the river with it.
58cm, cervelo P3 carbon first edition (black and red) with Zipp 808/404, bontrager bars etc.
Big reward if found obviously but thanks for keeping an eye out...

Good news, at least you got your frame back. Also use bikeshd.co.uk as it lists pretty much all bikes for sale across many websites in one place.

you know what its stupid remarks and accusations like that which stop people returning bikes. i returned a bike i bought after finding it was stolen, at my own cost and got nothing but shit from it with assumptions like yours. and frankly wish i hadnt bothered.
its quite rare to get your bike back.
and its that sort of attitude which will put anyone off doing the right thing in future

Dog temple, lighten up, it's extremely rare for it to pop up, much less for someone to find this topic.
Time for a bait bike, surely?
