This looks like a bakerlite one with lights and is pretty stylish
That's the D25b, widely regarded as the classic and definitely the most stylish (IMO).
I once was bitten with a similar bug and bought one for a tenner on eBay. It was local pickup only, so going cheap.
I restored it, polished the kettle, rewired it and got it all working. It looked lovely, but about 20 minutes before it is due to wake you up the kettle gets very noisy and wakes you up 20 minutes before the tea is ready.

I couldn't live with it so I sold it to a nice lady who worked in the Middle Temple for a rather tidy 90% profit. The more modern ones are probably more practical.
If you do get one make sure you get the tray too, look out for cracks/chips in the teapot and don't turn it on without checking the wiring first :)
