  • I have a few, was playing around with them earlier this year. The only real use I could find for them was distinguishing between the two induction chargers I was using (one on the desk and one on the bedside table, both in the same room so couldn't be done by location).

    The problem with NFC is its really close to being useful technology, but its not quite there yet. It could have a very bright future for mobile payments, but thats probably only going to happen well if the carriers stop trying to get in the middle of everything. The problem with uses further than that is that currently there aren't really a lot of situations where touching your phone against something else is an obviously more convenient solution, and where it is (things like touching devices together to create a quick bluetooth connection), its held back by the need for widespread adoption to move forward.
